Unlocking Canada's Innovation Capacity

Canada is home to world-class research with the potential to transform how we tackle our biggest challenges, from the clean energy transition to health systems change, environmental remediation and sustainable agriculture. But research alone doesn’t create impact. Without people equipped to carry it forward, even the most promising discoveries risk staying in the lab, published but unrealized. It’s well known that early-stage funding is part of the solution: giving researchers the translational skills and entrepreneurial mindset to move their work from the page to the world, and in doing so, strengthen Canada’s innovation capacity.

Standing for “invention to innovation”, this is what i2I is designed to do. Our programs are grounded in world-class research and hands-on experience in science-based translation, and connected to national networks of academic and industry mentors. Together, they help researchers unlock their entrepreneurial mindset and capabilities to advance their innovation idea on the path to impact.
